Our Story

Bill Gostomski, owner of Gostomski's Gunsmith Service started his gunsmithing career in the Baltimore area in 1976 at the age of 20.  After a 2-year apprenticeship and another 2 years of fulltime gunsmithing he moved to Western Maryland with his wife and 6-month-old son to open his own shop in the Frostburg, MD area. In 1990 growth in customer base prompted the build of a 2,000 square foot shop and a 100-yard range established in Mount Savage, MD. In 2017 the shop was expanded to 2,700 square feet to accommodate a fully equipped machine shop, a hoening stock duplicating machine, glass beading and Cerakote room as well as a customer storefront.

Whether you need a precision custom rifle built from the ground up, a beautiful wood stock duplicated on our hoening duplicator machine, or intricate engraving that turns a firearm into a family heirloom — we do it all, and we do it right.

Our shop is equipped with full machining capabilities, allowing us to fabricate parts, fit actions, and solve problems that other shops simply can't.

Twenty-three years after opening the doors to his first customers, Bill proudly incorporated his son Pete into the business. Following college Pete acquired his machinist credentials from the Robert C. Bryd Institute and has worked as an experienced Gunsmith in the family for the past 22 years.  In 2014 Bill's son-in-law Zack Roberts joined the business offering further expansion of expertise in the field.
